Allergy Headaches

Allergies can cause more than just a pesky nose congestion or sore throat. They can also trigger migraines or sinus headaches.

Sinus headaches occur when the sinuses are swollen and the openings into the nasal passages are obstructed. The blocked passages prevent normal drainage, causing pressure to build up. You will often feel pain in the facial area more than the head due to the inflamed sinuses.

Start managing your sinus headaches by avoiding the allergens that trigger them.

Firstly, limit your time outdoors when pollen season hits. Don’t keep your doors open or use window fans that might blow pollen or molds into your house. It helps to wear sunglasses when outdoor to prevent pollen dust from getting into your eyes.

Secondly, take precautions to make your house allergen-free. Dust often and use mite-proof covers for your pillows and bedsheets. To ensure no mold grows in your bathrooms, kitchen, or basement, clean them frequently. Mop rather than sweep your floors to limit the amount of dust particles moving in the air.

Thirdly, if you own pets wash your hands after handling the pet. Do not let the pet on your bed or in your bedroom. Vacuum your carpets and mop your wood floors often.

Try any of these Home Remedies.

– Apply a warm, moist cloth to your face, especially around your sinus area.

– Drink fluids to thin your mucus,

– Inhale steam to clear your lungs, either in the shower or over a brewing cup of tea.

– Drink green tea, as it contains antihistamines.

– Spray nose with nasal saline a few times a day.
